An assisted living facility is very similar to a nursing home, but it also provides special care to those in need. What differentiates a nursing home is the fact that it offers more freedom and independence of the person receiving care. There is a difference over – where nursing homes are offering their services only to seniors welcome these facilities, even younger if they are physically disabled and require special care. There are many companies that specialize in providing special care and senior independent living and those who are young but have serious problems of accessibility. However, in general, these facilities serve largely to senior citizens only.
Contrary to what happens in nursing homes, assisted living facilities do not monitor their residents all the time. It includes private apartments for its clients where the staff makes periodic visits to provide assistance to those in need. Some staff just goes to them to provide the company, so they do not feel alone. However, meals are not provided to customers in their separate apartments. Residents must go to the communal dining halls for meals. Thus, if some of its residents who are disabled or who have accessibility problems, they get a chance to go out in public and interact with people (who also suffer from similar problems) in a friendly environment. Thus, they do not feel more embarrassed.
However, it is very important for you to understand that assisted living is not for those who suffer from mental or very fragile. For them, the nursing home is undoubtedly a much better option. These are the people who need assistance twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, not just a retirement home can provide. Usually, there has assisted living communities in assisted living facility, it for to make one member can make a relation with others.
